Historic Gene Snyder US Courthouse New Lightwell Courtroom and Egress Stair Renovation
Louisville, Kentucky
TTV was selected to participate in this $5.1 Million multi-phase project that began with an extensive five stage Conceptual Design process for a new Lightwell Courtroom and associated space renovations for the US District Court, Western District of Kentucky in the Historic Gene Snyder U.S. Courthouse and Custom House. TTV team includes Architectural, Interior Design, Historic Preservation Consultant, MEPFP, Structural, Security, Acoustics, Lighting, Building Envelope, and Cost Consultant.
Program included new US District Courtroom and associated Court support spaces, new egress stairs to address existing Life Safety deficiencies, and Structural Repairs of existing Historic Chimney stack for a total project square footage of approximately 9,000sf completed in full BIM (Revit 2014) . The Final Preferred Lightwell Courtroom Design Option affords a clean modern Courtroom design that seeks to pay homage to the existing Vernacular while establishing a new aesthetic that quietly points towards the Historic Building’s future. Due to the high profile of the project and significance of the existing historic Gene Snyder Courthouse being on the National Register of Historic Places, TTV was required to make a Viable Options Presentation and complete a GSA Design Excellence Peer Review. The project budget was very closely examined during the entire process as the Courts had a fixed budget for the Tenant Fit Out portion of the new Courtroom as did GSA with the Core Shell budget, along with the US Marshals Service for their portion of the new Prisoner Movement and Holding Cell construction costs. Each submittal cost estimate was developed in strict accordance with current GSA Pricing Guidelines
